Former Aviation Minister and embattled Chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Fani Kayode, has on Sunday night, disclosed the true state of President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.
The explanation came after the president wrote to the National Assembly, informing the lawmakers of his intention to extend his medical vacation in London.
But Fani Kayode in a swift reaction said: “Buhari has finally acknowledged that he is sick and has extended his stay abroad indefinitely. It is now clear that Nigeria is in trouble.”
However, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, while explaining the development said Buhari is not in a hospital but in his residence at the Nigerian High Commission in England.
“I just spoke to the president’s personal doctor, and he told me President Buhari is not in any serious condition to worry about,” Shehu said.
He added: “He is not in hospital. He is in the residence at the Nigerian High Commission.”
Shehu further stated that the president was ready to return home with his delegation but for the arrival of some test results, which indicated that he needed further tests.
“He and his delegation were ready to come home today but for the delayed test result which came in today which necessitated that he delays his return.
“There is nothing to worry about as far as his condition is concerned,” Shehu said.
President Buhari departed Nigeria on January 19 on a 10-day vacation and handed over to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The latest is the third time he would embark on medical vacation since assuming office two years ago.
